As if powder-perfect conditions and champagne toasts on the ski beach weren’t enough reason to celebrate a New Year on the slopes, some alpine destinations have added celebrity entertainers, over-the-top dinners and even luxurious family-friendly attractions. Chamonix – France
Welcome the new year on the dance floor at l’Amneisa, Chamonix’s largest nightclub, or indulge in a four-course meal at Chambre Neuf with fillet of beef in cognac butter, brie de Meaux and milk chocolate cheesecake. No matter how you choose to spend the evening (or the early hours of the morning), there’s only one place to be at midnight — in the midst of champagne corks, fireworks and shouts of jubilee on Town Centre. Although known for its family-friendly atmosphere, Park City offers New Year’s celebrations for every type of reveler. Those seeking bottle service and celebrities can find both at popular nightclub Downstairs, where actor and DJ Danny Masterson will resume his traditional place behind the decks, and spacious venue Park City Live promises Taboo of the Black Eyed Peas. A premier nightlife hot spot Whistler will host an all-night affair at The GLC (Garibaldi Lift Co.) with two DJs, complimentary “welcome” drinks and a midnight champagne toast.
