Once an outfit-breaking concession to the elements, snow boots (real ones) have become a practical accessory that makes some fashion-forward pedestrians wish it were winter all year ’round. From fur-lined Sorels to classic UGGS, here are five swoon-worthy styles to cure your winter doldrums with a little mid-season shop therapy:
These steam-sealed waterproof boots, capped with faux fur, have unofficially taken over at least one ski town as the official boot of winter. The pre-ski Starbucks line in Park City, Utah is often one long sea of multi-colored Arctics — a testament to their durability in snow and slush. Perhaps the only problem with these stylish Sorels is deciding which ones to choose.
Where to strut them: Park City Mountain Resort
The Sybylles don’t look like the high-traction, water-resistant, made-for-function boots that they are — which is exactly why we love them.
Where to strut them: Beaver Creek
Excessively furry and aesthetically over-the-top? Sure. But these boots are also excessively comfy and plenty practical. Receiving rave reviews on Zappos, including one that described the experience like “wearing clouds on your feet,” the Maylin boot features a sheepskin lining sure to keep feet warm on cold winter days. UGG does remind shoppers that these chic shoes are not made for heavy show or ice, so we recommend waiting for a blue-bird day to take them out for apres-ski drinks.
Where to strut them: Deer Valley Resort
Leave it to Northface to make the most practical boot in the selection, and props to them for making these moon-like booties so stylish. You’ll enjoy water-resistant, “element-shedding” power and a 100% recycled PET ripstop shell. Feel confident taking these furry boots out for a hike or into the lodge for a post-ski hot toddy.
Where to strut them: Canyons Resort
This slip-resistant, waterproof boot is great for gals who live their lives outside. Functional enough for shoveling snow and walking the dog, the Watertides are also stylish enough to hit the town.

What I really like is the boots that have an ice grip system like Pajar- moscou -fur trimmed booties. Other brands have similar ice grippers, like North Face- and in a winter like we have in the Northeast, those really come in handy for preventing a fall on the ice.
