World’s Most Expensive Ski Real Estate

Chalet Marine – Courchevel, France – Price on Request

chalet-marine-bar

The asking price of this Courchevel chalet may be up to speculation, but some reports (including a feature on Billionaire.com) have placed the palatial property at more than $80 million, making it the world’s most expensive piece of alpine real estate. Filled with amenities typically reserved for a five-star Caribbean resort (Jacuzzi bar, anyone?), the 20,000 square-foot, 8-bedroom chalet also features a luxury spa, home theater and wine cellar.

Tranquility – Zephyr Cove, Nevada – $75,000,000

Tranquility

Some homes demand high listing prices because of location; others because of grandiose size or impressive amenities. This 27,000 square-foot mansion, built by Tommy Hilfiger co-founder Joel Horowitz, boasts it all — 210 pristine acres, horse facilities, a carriage house, private lake, indoor pool, two par-3 golf holes, a theater, artists’ studio, basketball court, and (for the kitsch in everyone), an exact replica of the grand staircase built on the U.S. Titanic. If that wasn’t enough, the estate is less than five miles from world-class skiing at Heavenly Resort and a stone’s throw from summer recreation at Lake Tahoe.

Verbier, Switzerland Chalet – $48,435,000

Verbier

The primary appeal of this rustic Swiss chalet is its out-the-door ski access and accompanying alpine views. Inside, a sauna, Jacuzzi and cozy fireplaces invite residents to relax after a day on the slopes. For summer enthusiasts, the home features access to hiking trails and an 18-hole golf course.  See full description.

Huntsman Estate – Deer Valley Resort, Utah – $44,000,000

Huntsman Estate

With 60 acres of prime mountain real estate, the Huntsman Estate has seen a burst of renewed interest since hitting the market in 2009. Plans for a gondola connecting Deer Valley Resort with Park City’s Main Street — a project that could come to fruition in as little as two seasons — has caught the eye of opportunity-spotting developers. Many possible routes for the gondola cross the Huntsman land, and a partner for the estate has proposed a midway station servicing new development. The estate also includes a 22,000 square-foot mansion featuring 12 bedrooms, 16 baths, an indoor pool and detached 20-car garage.

Ski & Golf Estate – Aspen, Colorado – $28,440,000

190 Pfister Drive - Aspen

State-of-the-art decor and over-the-top amenities are expected in Aspen — but ski-in/ski-out access? That is a rarity worth $28.4 million, particularly when the estate offers the space, amenities and privacy of two separate ski homes. This family compound, a 12-bedroom estate that features side-by-side contemporary homes — each with a wine cellar, theater and spa — offers Ingo Maurer light fixtures, Minotti Cucina kitchens and Pro Memoria furnishings.

Belz Chateau – Big Sky, Montana – $27,000,000

Belz Chataeu

Perhaps the most expensive chalet per suite, this 5-bedroom home devotes much of its 17,000 square feet to entertainment, boasting a media room, fitness center, wine cellar, recreation room, sauna and steam room. Catering heavily to true ski enthusiasts, this slope-side Montana chalet offers ski-in/ski-out access to not one, but two resorts — Big Sky and Moonlight Basin.

Bar B Bar Ranch Tradition – Jackson Hole, Wyoming – $24,750,000

Bar B Bar Ranch

A rustic getaway in the heart of Jackson Hole, this property appeals to year-round adventurers, offering 72 acres of pristine land with Snake River frontage, private ponds and forests of cottonwood, pine and willow trees. The property features a 7,600 square-foot main house with wine cellar, media room and wood-burning fireplaces, a 2,000 square-foot “recreation house” with a squash court, observatory and climbing wall, and a separate bunk house overlooking a pond and waterfall.

Resorts West Ski Dream Home – Deer Valley Resort, Utah – $21,900,000

Ski Dream Home

Built expressly to encompass every amenity a skier might desire, this ski-in/ski-out chalet was designed with everything from on-hill comfort to off-hill entertainment in mind.  An indoor/outdoor bar allows skiers to order a hot toddy without having to step inside, and an après ski lounge offers boot warmers and a cozy fireplace. The 6-bedroom home also features two outdoor fire pits, a heated swimming pool, over-sized hot tub, wine cellar, theater, DJ booth, golf simulator and spa.

Crans, Switzerland – $21,825,745

crans

Overlooking the Ballesteros Golf Course, this classically designed Swiss chalet offers year-round recreation in the heart of Crans, with easy access to skiing, hiking and high-end boutiques. The 8-bedroom home features an outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, gardens and fitness center.
