While your friends fight traffic to The Hamptons, we suggest a slightly more adventurous way to escape the city heat and spice (ice?) up your summer social plans. This August, take bikini season to the ski beach at one of these top resorts:
Australia’s largest ski resort invites snow lovers of all abilities to explore the expansive terrain and stunning scenery of Kosciuszko National Park. Stay at the Perisher Valley Hotel for ski-in/ski-out access, a luxurious spa and even an in-house masseuse.

Pack your Patagonia gear and inner adventurer before heading to this breathtaking city, where you’ll find as much culture as you will inspiring terrain. Known as “Little Switzerland,” Bariloche has a strong European influence, evidenced by the many chocolate shops, cafes and (apparently) St. Bernard dogs. The luxurious Llao Llao Hotel lies at the base of Mount Catedral for easy access to the slopes.

For just a taste of summer skiing, head to Whistler’s Horstman Glacier, where you can combine a few morning turns with an afternoon of wine tasting, hiking, and even — if you’re feeling daring — bear viewing. We recommend (what else?) the Fairmont Chateau Whistler, a castle-like hotel with indoor and outdoor pools, lavish suites and a heavenly spa. After you get your mountain fix, a few days in Vancouver will leave you with plenty of breezy memories to face the heat when you return home.

I also recommend Chile, and for those seeking adventure, they should ski the active volcano at Wakapuaka in New Zealand’s North Island. I was able to go white water rafting the next day. The nearby Chateau Tongariro felt like a slice of Britain in the midst of southern Pacific.
I would also recommend Chile and for a real adventure ski on an active volcano at Wakapuaka in New Zealand’s North Island. I was able to go white water rafting during the same June trip. The nearby Chateau Tongariro is a real slice of Britain in the midst of the southern Pacific.
