60 acres to be exact.
Billionaire entrepreneur and alpine enthusiast Oprah Winfrey bought two undeveloped lots in Telluride’s Mountain Village for $10.85 million, reports the Wall Street Journal, with plans to build a single estate on the heavily wooded property. The land, owned by supermarket heiress Carol Barnett, was not on the market.
Nestled on the Galloping Goose ski run, the estate will give 60-year-old Winfrey out-the-door access to Telluride’s longest (and most scenic) trail. For alpine trivia enthusiasts, the 4.6-mile run is also one of the longest in North America.
